March 17, 1936 was a disaster for the Pittsburgh region an for the P&LE
which ran along the area's rivers. A combination of melting snow pack and
heavy rain created the greatest floods ever recorded, and put the terminal
complex under water.

Montour Railroad's Imperial, Pa. passenger station, the only actual such
facility on the entire railroad, served the community until such service
was discontinued in 1927.

A view of the Ellwood City to Kopple, Pa. bridge over the P&LE's tracks in
the Beaver Valley. Originally built by the Pittsburgh, Harmony, Butler &
New Castle interurban street car line, the bridge was made into a toll
structure after the trolley line folded.
