Ex-P&LE H-8-A class Mikado #9552 was sold to the Algiers, Winslow &
Western which was headquartered in Oakland City, in August of 1939. This
picture shows the 106 backing into the AW&W engine house, with what appears
to a different style of tender than it operated with on the P&LE.

Information about
P&LE RR H-8 class locomotive #9552 on Pages 36 and 118 was based on the
railroad's historical record card for the unit. After years of hunting for
additional information about this locomotive, I have come across a photo
of this unit on the Algiers, Winslow & Western that will update what was
published in the Mikado book.
When initially stenciled for the AW&W at P&LE's shops, the unit had kept
its original identification number for the new owner. The photograph
seen at left top shows the locomotive as having the number 106 when in
service on the AW&W. Unfortunately, there is no date for the picture, and
I still have not been able to determine the locomotive's ultimate
disposition.
