A pair of Montour Railroad diesels works the Champion coal processing plant of the Pittsburgh Coal Company located in North Fayette Township, PA just off US Route 22.

A P&LE Mikado heads a westbound freight train headed for McKees Rocks past the railroad's Pittsburgh Terminal. The head-end crew being careful to minimize the smoke that the locomotive is making, as the Allegheny County Pollution Control Officer is watching from Grant Building seen right across the river in Downtown Pittsburgh.

A B&O Railroad mighty "Big Six" locomotive on a westbound freight train over the P&LE has been pulled at McKees Rocks to repair a hot box.

When the McKeesport and Belle Vernon Railroad first opened for business it lacked turning facilities on the end of the line and had to back locomotive power on the head end of trains from McKeesport to Fayette City, Pa., as No. 19 is doing in this
picture.
